Photo and video reviews for Shopify stores
Free plan includes unlimited review requests with no order limit and basic display widgets. The Awesome plan is around $15/month per store and adds photo and video reviews, custom review forms, and shopping channel integrations.
Judge.me is a product reviews platform for online stores, best known as one of the highest-install-count review apps on Shopify, with equivalent apps and plugins for WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, Adobe Commerce and Magento, PrestaShop, Ecwid, Shift4Shop and OpenCart. Its positioning is unusually simple for this category. Automated review request emails are unlimited on every plan, including the free one, which removes the constraint that most competitors use to force upgrades.
The request engine is the core of the product. After an order is fulfilled, Judge.me sends an automated email asking for a review, with timing rules so the message arrives after delivery rather than at purchase. Templates are customisable with order, product and customer variables, support dozens of languages, and can request a star rating alone or ask for photos and video as well. Follow-up reminders can be sent to non-responders, and coupons can be attached as an incentive.
On-site presentation covers the full set of widgets a store needs. The product reviews widget shows the average rating, a distribution breakdown, filters and sorting, pagination, verified buyer labels and merchant replies. A review carousel surfaces content on the homepage or collection pages, an all-reviews page gives a searchable archive, and photo and video galleries collect user-generated imagery in one place. A question and answer widget handles pre-purchase questions on product pages. Widgets inherit store theme styling on Shopify, and custom CSS is available where the design needs to go further.
Search visibility is a significant part of the value. Judge.me outputs structured data for product ratings and reviews so that star ratings and review counts can appear as rich results in Google, and it maintains an all-reviews page that adds indexable, keyword-rich content to a store. It also supplies product rating feeds for Google Shopping and Merchant Center listings, where star ratings materially affect click-through rate on paid shopping results. Stores migrating from another platform can keep their accumulated review markup rather than starting their rating history over.
Migration tooling is deliberately low-friction. Judge.me imports existing reviews from competitors including Loox, Yotpo and Stamped, as well as from CSV, so a store can switch without losing its social proof. It also supports importing reviews from suppliers and marketplaces for dropshipping catalogues, which is common practice in that segment but carries obvious authenticity concerns, and any imported content should be labelled and assessed against the store's own disclosure obligations and the advertising rules that apply in its markets.
Moderation and operations are handled through a dashboard queue. Reviews can be auto-published or held for approval, spam and duplicate detection filters obvious junk, and merchants can reply publicly to any review, which is itself a ranking and trust signal. Reviews can be grouped across product variants so that a single product page aggregates feedback for all its sizes and colours, and multi-store or multi-location setups are supported. Reporting covers request volume, response rate, average rating over time and review counts by product.
Integration coverage spans the surrounding commerce stack. Judge.me connects to email marketing platforms such as Klaviyo and Mailchimp so review events can enter flows, to Google and Facebook for rating feeds, to page builders and theme app extensions on Shopify, and to upsell, subscription, loyalty and shipping apps where review data or review incentives are relevant. An API is available for custom work. The exact native integration list differs between the Shopify app and the versions for other platforms, so a specific connector should be verified for the platform in use.
Judge.me differs from Loox, which is photo and video first with a subscription priced largely around request volume and a design-led widget set. It differs from Yotpo, which is an enterprise customer marketing suite covering reviews, user-generated content rights, loyalty and SMS at a price point aimed at larger brands with a sales-led contract. It differs from Stamped, which sits between the two with a broader marketing module set. It differs from Okendo, which targets Shopify Plus merchants with attribute-level ratings and richer analytics. And it differs from Shopify's own free Product Reviews app, which provides basic collection and display but no automation depth, no photo and video galleries, no rich snippet feeds and no import tooling. Judge.me competes on price and unlimited volume rather than on enterprise features.
Pricing follows the same pattern across platforms. There is a genuinely usable free plan that includes unlimited automated review request emails and the core review widget, which is enough for a new store to start collecting social proof at no cost. The paid Awesome plan has been offered at approximately 15 US dollars per month and adds the photo and video review features, additional widgets and integrations, custom branding and styling control, review incentives such as coupons, and richer moderation and reporting options. Annual billing is discounted, and there is an enterprise or Shopify Plus support arrangement for large merchants. Prices and the exact feature split between plans have changed over time and vary somewhat between platforms, so current figures should be confirmed on the Judge.me pricing page or in the relevant app store listing.
The limitations are worth stating plainly. The Shopify app is the most complete implementation, and the versions for other platforms lag on features and on widget flexibility, so a multi-platform retailer should not assume parity. Design depth is limited without custom CSS, and heavily branded stores may find the widget structure constraining. There is no user-generated content rights management, no influencer or social advertising tooling and no loyalty programme, all of which Yotpo and Okendo sell. Review authenticity depends on merchant moderation, particularly where supplier reviews have been imported. Collection depends on email deliverability, so a store with poor sender reputation will see weak response rates regardless of the tool. Support is chat and email based, which is responsive by app-store standards but is not an account-managed service.
Judge.me fits small and mid-sized online stores on Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Wix, Squarespace or Adobe Commerce that need to collect and display product reviews, want star ratings in organic and paid search results, and are unwilling to pay per review request. It fits stores migrating away from a more expensive platform because the import tooling preserves existing reviews. It does not fit enterprise brands that need user-generated content licensing, influencer management, loyalty and attribution inside the same contract, nor merchants whose review strategy depends on attribute-level analytics and customer research, nor anyone running a platform Judge.me does not publish an app for.
Against the alternatives, Judge.me is the value option in a category that has become expensive. Loox is the better choice when photography-led presentation is the priority and budget allows. Yotpo and Okendo are the better choice when reviews are one part of a broader customer marketing programme with enterprise requirements. Shopify's own free app is the better choice only for a store that needs nothing beyond basic collection. For the majority of small and mid-market merchants, Judge.me delivers the functionality that actually moves conversion and search visibility at a price that does not scale with order volume, which is the argument that has made it one of the most widely installed review apps available.
