Plans are billed monthly or annually and scale by contact count, starting around $99/month for the entry tier with a limited lead allowance and rising through tiers with higher contact caps and email volumes. A low-cost trial is typically offered. Verify current tiers on the vendor page.
Kartra is an all-in-one online business platform launched in 2018 by Genesis Digital, the team associated with Mike Filsaime and Andy Jenkins, and marketed heavily through campaigns created with Frank Kern. It bundles funnel and page building, email marketing, checkout and cart, membership sites, video hosting, a help desk with live chat, appointment scheduling and affiliate management into a single subscription. The target customer is an information marketer, coach, course creator or agency that would otherwise pay separately for a funnel builder, an email platform, a video host, a course platform and a support tool.
The page and funnel builder is drag and drop, with a library of sections and elements, pre-designed templates, and per-element responsive controls for tablet and mobile. Pages are assembled into funnel sequences, so an opt-in page, a checkout, an upsell, a thank-you page and a follow-up can be linked as one flow with rules that decide where a visitor goes next. Forms and pop-ups carry conditional logic, can fire on exit intent or scroll depth, and write leads directly into the contact database. Split testing is available at the page level, and done-for-you campaign templates ship as complete funnels with copy and structure that can be adapted rather than written from scratch.
Email marketing is a first-class module rather than an add-on. Contacts are stored in a single database with tags, custom fields and a full activity history covering page visits, video watches, purchases and support tickets. Broadcasts go to filtered segments, and sequences run as drip campaigns or as automation workflows built in a visual editor. Triggers include behavioural events such as watched a percentage of a video, visited a page, abandoned a cart, started or completed a purchase, entered or exited a tag, and failed a payment, which allows the same platform to run acquisition, onboarding and retention messaging.
Video hosting is included and is one of the more distinctive modules. Kartra hosts video files on its own infrastructure rather than relying on YouTube, with no pre-roll or related-video advertising and no branding from a third party. Videos support chapters, in-video calls to action that appear at a chosen timestamp, and analytics on watch time and drop-off. Those watch events can also trigger automation workflows. Hosting consumes bandwidth and storage allowances that vary by plan.
Commerce covers products, cart and checkout. Products can be one-time purchases, subscriptions, payment plans, trials or free offers, with order bumps, one-click upsells and downsells using the payment method already captured, coupon codes with usage rules, and shopping cart behaviour across multiple products. Checkout pages are built in the same page editor, so design stays consistent with the rest of the funnel. Payment processing runs through Stripe and PayPal, and tax handling follows the processor plus Kartra's own tax settings. Physical products are supported with basic shipping options, though inventory management is not the platform's strength.
Membership sites provide tiered access to content. Memberships contain sections and lessons, with drip rules based on a schedule after purchase or on a trigger event, content locking by product or membership level, and progress tracking. Members log in through a Kartra-hosted member area, and access is revoked automatically when a subscription fails or is cancelled. There is no native forum or social community layer, so discussion needs an external tool or a comments integration.
Support tooling is built in through a help desk and live chat. The help desk is a shared ticket inbox with agent seats, assignment, statuses, canned responses and routing rules, and tickets appear on the same contact record as purchases and email history. A live chat widget can be placed on pages and inside the member area, and chat conversations can be escalated into tickets. Appointment scheduling handles bookings with availability rules, reminders and calendar syncing, which replaces a separate scheduling tool for coaches and consultants.
Affiliate management is native. Affiliates register through a portal, are approved individually, receive tracking links, and are paid according to commission rules that can be set globally or per product, including recurring commissions on subscriptions. Joint venture contract terms can be attached to offers, and reporting covers clicks, sales, refunds and balances owed.
Kartra is deliberately self-contained. Payment processing connects to Stripe and PayPal, and almost everything else runs through Zapier and webhooks rather than a large native integration catalogue. That design keeps data inside one system and reduces integration maintenance, but it also means unusual requirements, such as connecting a specialist CRM or a data warehouse, depend on middleware. Import and export tools exist for contact lists and content, though recreating complex automations elsewhere is manual work.
Pricing has historically been four published monthly tiers, Starter at approximately 99 US dollars, Silver at approximately 199, Gold at approximately 299 and Platinum at approximately 499, with a discount for annual prepayment and a custom enterprise arrangement for very large contact lists. Each tier raises ceilings on contacts, monthly email sends, bandwidth and video storage, products, pages and sites, help desk agent seats and affiliate counts, so the effective limit is usually the contact cap or the number of support agents rather than the feature set. These prices and limits have been revised over time and promotional pricing is common, so the current tier names, monthly and annual rates and per-plan limits should be verified on the Kartra pricing page.
The limitations follow from the closed design. Content and automations are difficult to move out, which makes exit costly. The page builder is template-oriented and less flexible than Webflow or a self-hosted WordPress stack, and design output can look generic. Per-plan contact and bandwidth ceilings cause costs to step up sharply as a list grows. Module depth is uneven, with email and video being strong and the shopping cart being weaker than a dedicated platform for physical goods. The breadth of the product means a real learning curve and a period where the interface feels cluttered. Support quality is reported as variable, and there is no native B2B sales pipeline, no mobile application and no true API-first extensibility.
Kartra fits information marketers, course creators, coaches, consultants and small agencies that want one vendor for funnels, email, video, checkout, memberships and support, and that value consolidation and predictable cost over best-in-class depth in any single category. It fits teams without a developer who would otherwise assemble four tools. It does not fit physical product retailers, enterprises needing procurement and compliance, businesses whose marketing depends on deep third-party integrations, designers who need real layout control, or high-volume senders who require dedicated infrastructure and deliverability engineering.
Against the alternatives, the comparison is with ClickFunnels, Kajabi, GoHighLevel and Systeme.io. ClickFunnels is stronger on funnel construction and weaker on help desk and video. Kajabi is stronger on course delivery and community and weaker on cart mechanics and support ticketing. GoHighLevel targets agencies managing many client sub-accounts, which Kartra does not do natively. Systeme.io competes on price with a narrower feature set. A stack of separate best-of-breed tools can beat Kartra module by module while costing more in total and in integration effort. Kartra's case is that a single vendor with shared data across all of those functions is worth accepting middling depth in each.
